Delta Sports Commission approves new management for Delta Queens FC

The Delta State Sports Commission has reconstituted the management board and technical crew of the Delta Queens Football Club, as part of measures to enhance the club’s performance in the coming 2025/2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Season.

It would be recalled that the entire structure of Delta Queens Football Club, including the management board and technical crew, was dissolved about months ago by the commission following the club’s abysmal performance in the just concluded 2024/2025 NWFL Season.

The announcement of a new management team, technical crew, and backroom staff ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season was contained in a statement signed by the commission’s Director of Public Relations, Mrs. Franka Okonma, and made available to newsmen in Asaba.

The commission explained that the appointment of a new management team, technical crew, and support staff is to reposition the club for greater efficiency, professionalism, and improved performance.

The statement named Awhana Mercy as general manager, bringing a wealth of experience and administrative strength to the new set-up.

She will work alongside Samson Keshi, a UEFA-certified coach and former head coach of Naija Ratels FC, who has been appointed as the club’s new head coach.

Keshi’s European training and domestic achievements are expected to bring a technical edge to Delta Queens’ pursuit of top-flight dominance.

Also appointed to the technical crew are assistant coaches Jennifer Adjuyah, Maureen Eke, and Susan Aliya, with Njoku Okechukwu named as goalkeeper trainer.

The club’s reconstituted backroom team includes Usiada Ese as welfare officer, Akanigha Austin as media officer, Oyibo Joy as secretary, Veronica Ogigai as nurse, and Edosovba Theresa as chaperone.

Others are Abubakar Lukman (masseur), Aniemeke Gift (cook), Ikopi Ogbemudia (videographer), Okpimo Stephen (photographer), and drivers Orukpe Goodluck and Aboghe Dennis.

The commission noted that the appointments are part of a broader effort to inject professionalism, stability, and renewed energy into the club’s operations as Delta Queens prepare for a competitive NWFL campaign.

The newly reconstituted team is expected to be officially inaugurated in the coming days.
