The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has commended Nigerian community leaders in Ontario, Canada, for establishing the first-ever Nigerian Immigration Welcome Centre.
The centre, set to launch on April 12, 2025, aims to support both new and existing Nigerian immigrants in settling successfully in Canada, according to Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head, Media and Public Relations and Protocols Unit of NiDCOM.
Dabiri-Erewa lauded the initiative, describing it as a commendable step towards strengthening the Nigerian diaspora community.
She encouraged other Nigerian communities worldwide, to adopt similar support structures to ease the integration of Nigerians abroad.

She reaffirmed NiDCOM’s commitment to collaborate with organizations that prioritize the welfare of Nigerians in the diaspora.
Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Uche Okugo, President of the Network of Nigerians in Canada (NNC), highlighted that the centre would provide tailored services to help immigrants adjust quickly to their new environment and make meaningful contributions to Canadian society.
The Nigerian Immigration Welcome Centre will offer a range of services, including: career mentoring, settlement support, job placement assistance, language coaching, empowerment programmes and food bank support.
