Coco Gauff defeats World Number One Aryna to win French Open

Coco Gauff achieved her first singles title at the French Open by coming from behind to beat world number one Aryna Sabalenka in a thrilling final played under tough conditions.

The American, who was the second seed, secured a 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 6-4 victory after an intense match between the top two players on the WTA Tour.

This marks the second Grand Slam win for the 21-year-old, adding to her US Open title earned in 2023, where she also defeated Sabalenka from Belarus.

Gauff overcame a rocky start where she fell behind by two breaks but eventually found her groove, taking advantage of many errors made by the 27-year-old Sabalenka.
