Bayelsa Groom flees wedding over shocking demands, sparks online debate
In a bizarre turn of events, a groom identified as Biobelemoye David shocked guests when he abruptly abandoned his wedding ceremony in Imo State. The drama unfolded after a series of relentless financial demands pushed him over the edge, leaving family members and attendees in disbelief.

Sources revealed that David had already spent a staggering N1.5 million on preparations, including food, tents, chairs, and a public address system. He also set aside N100,000 as the agreed bride price between both families. However, tensions began to rise when he was unexpectedly asked to add N50,000 to the bride price, allegedly because his fiancée was pregnant.

The demands escalated further. David was fined N10,000 for mistakenly entering the wrong compound during the ceremony and an additional N15,000 to compensate elders who claimed they had grown weary of waiting for his arrival.

The situation took a surreal turn when twelve women, all draped in loose robes covering them from head to toe, were paraded before the groom. David was instructed to identify his bride but mistakenly pointed to the wrong woman. This error cost him another N15,000 fine.

The breaking point came when the bride’s family insisted he reimburse them for N850,000, the alleged total amount spent on her school fees and upkeep since childhood. Struggling to contain his growing frustration, David excused himself, pretending to head for the latrine. Moments later, he disappeared from the venue entirely.

Witnesses report that David switched off his phone and was last seen boarding a bus bound for Bayelsa State, leaving behind a stunned bride and her family.

This extraordinary tale has gone viral online, with social media users debating the cultural practices and financial pressures surrounding marriage ceremonies. Many have sympathized with David, while others criticized him for leaving the bride humiliated.
