Akon City has been in the works for over 10 years in Senegal and received additional inspiration after the success of Marvel’s “Black Panther,” which impacted the “Smack That” singer.

However, Akon told reporters that certain “killmongers” are actively trying to hinder the project, including spreading “misinformation” about its supposed cancellation.

While he didn’t specify who is attempting to impede progress in Africa, he expressed his determination to fight for the project and to protect his celebrity friends who are interested in it.

“Building cities takes time, especially a $6 billion one,” Akon stated.
