Akeredolu Free Four Inmates, Commutes Death Sentences Of Six Years

In the spirit of the new year celebration, the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has authorized the immediate release of four inmates serving various terms of imprisonment in the state correctional centers, commuted to life imprisonment six vilified inmates who were sentenced to death by hanging by courts in the state

This was in exercise of the power conferred on the Governor by paragraph (a) (c) and (d) of subsection (1) of section 212 of the amended 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. However, it was gathered that the inmates were released based on reports of good conduct at the correctional centers.

The Governor also broadened his kindness and mercy to another inmate sentenced to life Imprisonment, who will now spend 15 years at the correctional center.

Furthermore, he urged the free inmates to see their discharge as another chance to live a decent life as a better and restored citizen, adding that the members of the public should hold and reintegrate them and not to discriminate against them.
