The Adamawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into a tragic incident involving the death of a 35-year-old man, Ibrahim Usman, who was allegedly struck by a stray bullet reportedly fired by personnel of the Nigeria Customs Service during a patrol operation in Mubi.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at about 4:00 p.m. in Mujara, Mubi South Local Government Area.
Following a distress call, officers from the Gude Divisional Police Headquarters, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), swiftly responded to the scene and rushed the victim to the Federal Medical Centre in Mubi, where he was later confirmed dead.

Confirming the development, the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, stated that the Nigeria Customs Service has been duly notified of the incident. He also directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to carry out a discreet and thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, assured the public that justice would be served and pledged that the outcome of the investigation would be communicated in due course.
