Adamawa mourns Jibril Aminu

Adamawa State, led by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the renowned academic, diplomat, and political leader and former Minister of Education, Sen. Jibril Aminu.

In a heartfelt tribute, Gov. Fintiri described the late Sen. Aminu as “a towering figure in Nigeria’s intellectual and political landscape,” noting that his death represents an immense loss for both Adamawa State and the nation at large.

“Nigeria benefited immensely from his wisdom, scholarship, and decades of selfless service,” the governor said.

Sen. Aminu’s storied career spanned several key positions in public service, including minister of education, minister of petroleum and mineral resources, Nigerian ambassador to the United States, and senator representing Adamawa Central.

He was widely respected for his integrity, intellect, and commitment to national development.

“Nigeria has lost one of its finest mindsa devoted public servant and an exemplary son of Adamawa,” Gov. Fintiri said.

“Professor Jibril Aminu was a rare patriot and quiet reformer whose legacy spans education, diplomacy, and politics. His humility and wisdom will be deeply missed.”

The governor offered prayers for the late professor, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.

He also extended condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and all Nigerians touched by Prof. Aminu’s life and work.

“Though his passing leaves a profound void, his legacy will continue to inspire generations,” Fintiri added. “May his soul rest in Allah’s infinite mercy.”

Prof. Jibril Aminu’s passing marks the end of an era for Adamawa State and Nigeria, but his legacy of public service, intellectual leadership, and nation-building will endure.
