The Nigerian Navy has handed over a notorious three-man kidnapping syndicate to the Police after successfully rescuing a kidnapped naval officer and other abductees in Abuja.
Commander of the Naval Unit in Abuja, Commodore Oluseyi Oladipo, revealed that the officer was abducted on Friday, March 21, 2025, around the Mpape area of Abuja and was later traced to a remote forest hideout in Nasarawa State. A swift joint operation involving the Navy’s Quick Response Squad, troops from the Guards Brigade of the Nigerian Army, and operatives of the Nigeria Police Force led to the officer’s rescue in the early hours of Sunday, March 23.
The operation, which was driven by both technical and human intelligence, resulted not only in the safe rescue of victims but also in the arrest of two principal suspects and one accomplice. The suspects, now in Police custody, have reportedly confessed to being involved in a string of violent crimes including kidnapping and cattle rustling.

Highlighting the Navy’s proactive approach to internal security, Commodore Oladipo reiterated the commitment of the Naval Base to supporting the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla’s vision of a responsive and professional naval force. He emphasized the Navy’s unwavering collaboration with sister security agencies to combat threats such as kidnappings, ‘one-chance’ robberies, and car thefts that continue to plague the Federal Capital Territory.
The suspects and crucial evidence were formally handed over to the FCT Police Command for further investigation and prosecution. Oladipo also commended the Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for his relentless efforts to bolster security in the capital city.
