As the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBF) released the roster for the national female U-19 team expected to represent Nigeria at this year’s U-19 World Cup in the Czech Republic, three Bayelsa state female players have been named in the squad.
Out of the 12 players invited, five are foreign-based, while the remaining players are from the grassroots, with three products of St. Jude’s Girls Secondary School and Benny International School of Bayelsa State making the list.
The trio of Pius Beggi, Abigail Isaac, and Favour Samson, tutored by coach Tony Nelson, have gone through stages of development at the grassroots, back to their days competing for Bayelsa State in the Nestle Milo Secondary School Basketball Championship.
