2027: Ibru rallies support, backs Tinubu, Oborevwori for reelection
Businessman and son of the late industrialist Michael Ibru, Olorogun Oscar Ibru, has declared support for the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

Ibru made the declaration on Friday during an enlarged Unity Meeting of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State. The event, which he organized on behalf of Governor Oborevwori, brought together party stakeholders and supporters from across the area.

Describing the governor as a man of peace, patience, and purposeful action, Ibru said Oborevwori’s leadership reflects the ideals he hoped to implement when he contested the Delta governorship nearly two decades ago.

According to Ibru who is a prominent political figure in the state, “The governor is doing what I would have done 18 years ago when I ran for governorship of the state.”

Ibru said, “He is a man of patience, a man of peace, and most importantly, action speaks louder than words. People talk about Governor Sheriff as if he just came up to be governor, but they don’t know that he has gone through all the stages — the man has been around.”

He continued, “He is open. If you want to speak to him, he listens. I hate it when people say he defected — no, the man knows what he is doing, what is best for you and me. He is an Urhobo man, so we must work with him. We should support him. The governor is a great guy and he is going to continue to do better, and Delta will move forward.”

Ibru also reaffirmed his backing for President Tinubu, noting that both leaders were recently adopted as sole candidates by South-South stakeholders at a regional meeting.

Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Hon. Egbo Jaro, who also spoke at the rally, described the turnout as a reflection of Governor Oborevwori’s wide acceptance across the state.

“What you see today is a testimony of how far the governor is accepted, not just in Ughelli or Delta Central, but in the state as a whole,” Jaro said. “We are here to reiterate our earlier vow that the governor has done well and is doing well, that our president has done well, and we have adopted them as sole candidates for their respective offices.”

Other speakers at the rally included Surveyor Terry Noah and Professor Sam Iboje, who also pledged their support for the Tinubu-Oborevwori duo and called on residents to sustain the momentum for continued development.
